Athleisure is kicking off 2017 in full swing, just in time for your New Year’s resolution to get fit.
Thanks to trendsetter celebs like Gigi Hadid and the rise of fashionable fitness brands like lululemon, activewear has gotten a major upgrade over the last couple of years. For those who don’t know, “athleisure” is about athletic clothing worn in and out of the gym and incorporating it into your everyday wardrobe. As a college student, I can be found wearing my activewear around campus almost every day, so this idea is perfect for me, as I’m sure it is for anyone else who’s always on the go. However, there are a few “rules” to making athleisure work for you. So today, I have some tips for pulling off this trend, plus a few outfit ideas.
Utilize What You Have
Making your clothes do double duty as activewear and everyday wear is what athleisure is all about. Throwing a denim or army jacket over your gym clothes is a foolproof way to transition your outfit out of the gym. A baggy sweater or loose tee are also great for throwing over a sports bra.
Properly accessorizing can help take your outfit from the gym to the streets. Just a pair of classic sunglasses or the sleek Fitbit seen above can elevate your look from just gym wear.
Sometimes it’s best to keep it simple. You can hardly ever go wrong with a neutral ensemble, and athleisure is no exception. Also, I am loving the S’well insulated bottles, especially for trips to the gym. This marble one doubles as an accessory and perfectly contrasts with this look.
